BENNINGTON, Vt. - Southern Vermont freshman RHP/catcher Eric Wells (Athens, Pa.) batted .533 (8-for-15), while chipping in six runs and four RBI for the Mountaineers.
Wells helped his team to a 2-3 week, hitting safely in all five games, collecting multiple hits in two contests, and crushing three home runs. In a split with NECC opponent Becker, he nailed all three home runs, leading his team to an 11-5 victory in the opener going 3-for-3 with two runs and three RBI.
He did not strike out in his 15 trips to the plate, as he is currently ranked 4th in the NCAA DIII statistics for toughest to strike out category. Wells slugged an amazing 1.133 and posted a .667 on-base percentage for the week.
