Bennington, VT - The Southern Vermont College baseball team salvaged a split with the Nighthawks of Newbury College in a battle of future New England Collegiate Conference foes. SVC led 5-0 in the first game, but a five-run Nighthawk rally in the final frame shocked the home team. In the nightcap, it was all Southern Vermont 13-5.
Justin Adams (2-4) picked up the win for Newbury (3-16) and William Maddock earned his first save. For SVC (4-22) Tim Johnson improved to 2-6.
On the day, Newbury's David Carroll was 3-6 with 3 runs scored and four RBIs. SVC was guided by Dan Bosely's 3-6 day. He tallied two RBIs and scored two runs.
Southern Vermont College will be home Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. for the College of Saint Joseph's of Vermont. Newbury will next travel to Elms College at noon Sunday for a doubleheader.
