Erin Potter (McEnaney) | Inducted 2017

Erin Potter, Class of 2001, was a runner for Southern Vermont’s women’s cross country team and head coach Scott Kilgallon in the late 90’s and early 2000’s. She was the first SVC cross country runner from both the women’s and men’s teams to place first at an NCAA race—that showing helping the Mountaineers win their first meet as a team when they defeated Massachusetts Maritime Academy.

Potter broke the long-standing team record for a 5000 meter race with a mark of 21:10 at the NCAA New England Regional Qualifier in the fall of 2000; that record stood for two years before being bumped down to second where it stayed for another 11 seasons. While she graduated before SVC won the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) championship in ‘01, Potter was a major factor in helping Kilgallon build the team to a title-winning caliber.

A seventh-place finish at the 2000 GNAC championship race landed Potter on the All-GNAC Team. She then graduated the following May with her bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. Potter is married to Scott McEnaney ‘01—another former Mountaineer runner who still claims the seventh-best 8k time on the men’s side.
