The 2014 season will be the fourth at Southern Vermont for head coach Leanne Baker.  Last year, she led the Mountaineers to the most wins in program history, finishing with a 9-21 mark. That team also compiled the most conference while being a memeber of the New England Collegiate Conference after going 6-12 in league play. All three years that Baker has led SVC, the softball team has been awarded the NECC's Team Sportsmanship Award.

In 2012, Baker saw three players receive All-NECC nods (most in program history).  Additionally, three players from the softball team were named to the NECC All-Academic Team.  In Baker’s first season in 2011, one player was selected to the All-NECC team while another made the NECC All-Academic Team. 

A two-time graduate of Edinboro University of Pennsylvania, Baker has a Master of Arts in Communications (2009) and a Bachelor of Arts in Print Journalism (2007).

Before heading the Mountaineers, Coach Baker was a volunteer assistant (’09-’10) and graduate assistant (’07-’09) for Edinboro’s head coach Dan Gierlak.  In that time, the Fighting Scots made two Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) tournaments, including a No. 2 seed in 2009 after finishing the regular season with a 24-17 record (26-19 overall).  She was a graduate assistant in the Edinboro sports information office during the ’07-’08 school year.

While an undergrad at Edinboro, Baker played first base, third base, catcher and designated hitter.  The Fighting Scots made the PSAC and NCAA Mid-Atlantic Region postseason tournaments in 2007, and Baker was named to the All-PSAC West Second Team in 2006.

Coach Baker and her husband, J.D., live in Williamstown, Mass.  Their daughter, Lucy, turned one this past March.
