Men’s cross country will start its journey for a third straight New England Collegiate Conference Championship title on September 3 when Southern Vermont will host the annual Mountaineer Invitational. The men’s side will run just a 5000 meter race once again on its home campus in a meet that is traditionally a grueling start to the season with hot temperatures and the tough, mountainside terrain. SVC will then turn to its slate of 8000 meter races, first competing at the Castleton Invitational (Sept. 10) and then the Johnson State Invitational (Sept. 17); SVC will look to once again win those meets after claiming the trophies from each venue last year.
The Mountaineers are scheduled to run three more regular season races through mid-October before heading back to Stanley Park in Westfield, Mass. on October 29 for the NECC title meet, vying to bring home the traveling cup for the third consecutive year. November 5 sees Southern Vermont participate in the Eastern College Athletic Conference Division III Championship before SVC harriers return to Stanley Park the following weekend for the NCAA New England Regional Qualifier.

Southern Vermont then travels to Castleton State University on September 10 before heading up to Johnson State College the next Saturday in an attempt to repeat as the Johnson State Invitational Champions.
SVC is slated to run three additional races in the backend of the regular season, gearing up for the NECC Championship at Stanley Park on October 29.
