BENNINGINGTON, Vt. – The New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) has announced the brackets for its 2013 fall championship tournaments with Southern Vermont College having a seed in both the women’s volleyball and women’s soccer playoffs.

For the third-straight year, SVC will be hosting the women’s volleyball semifinal and championship rounds, set to take place Friday evening and Saturday afternoon, respectively. The Mountaineers once again earned the No. 1 seed after going 7-1 in league play (10-8) overall. They will play the winner of fourth-seeded Daniel Webster College (10-12 overall, 5-3 NECC) and No. 5 Lesley University (9-16 overall, 5-3 NECC), a match being played at 7 p.m. on Tuesday at DWC.

Regis College also receives a first round bye after locking up the No. 2 spot with a 6-2 NECC mark (13-17 overall) and will play the winner of No. 6 Mitchell College (9-12 overall, 4-4 NECC) at No. 3 Newbury College (13-15 overall, 6-2 NECC), a first round also being played Tuesday at 7 p.m.

Southern Vermont women’s soccer makes its way into the NECC tournament for the third-straight year, grabbing the five seed after going 6-8-1 overall and 5-4 in the conference this season. The Mountaineers will travel Tuesday afternoon for a 4 p.m. match at Regis College which is the fourth seed with a 6-2-1 NECC record (9-6-2 overall); tiebreaking procedures were necessary to determine the No. 3 and 4 seeds between Regis and Bay Path College. The winner of SVC vs. RC will visit top-seeded Lesley University which received the lone bye after going undefeated in the league (16-1-1 overall, 9-0 NECC); that semifinal match will be played Thursday afternoon at Lesley.

Bay Path took the three seed with a 6-2-1 conference mark (9-6-1 overall) and the tiebreaker. The Wildcats are set to host No. 6 Newbury College (4-10 overall, 3-6 NECC) Tuesday at 2 p.m. The winner of that first round contest then matches up Thursday against the victor of No. 7 Becker College (3-6 overall, 4-13 NECC) at No. 2 Elms College (9-8-1 overall, 8-1 NECC), a postseason tilt scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday evening. The championship contest will be held Saturday, November 2, at the highest remaining seed.
