ATHLETE OF THE WEEK FOR PERIOD ENDING 4/21/19

Brandi Johnson #4 (Softball)
Fr. / 5-5 / Infielder
Hometown: Philmont, N.Y.
High School: Taconic Hills HS
Major: Nursing

Inside the numbers:
Johnson had another strong week for Southern Vermont as she went 3-6 through the team’s only doubleheader. She added a walk, two RBIs, three stolen bases, and two runs scored in SVC’s twin bill against Bay Path. Johnson knocked her second homer of the year out of the park in Friday’s opener, and her two hits in that contest accounted for her eighth multi-hit game of the year. The freshman is second on the team with a .379 batting average, and her team-leading 12 stolen bases is the most for a Mountaineer since 2012; Johnson is also tied for fifth on the program’s single season steals record list.

What Coach McDonough is saying:
"Brandi has done an incredible job at the plate this season. Her selectively-aggressive approach allows her to consistently have great at bats. We are lucky to have her at the top of our order!”
