ATHLETE OF THE WEEK FOR PERIOD ENDING 1/20/19
Josh Borders #25 (Men's Basketball)
Sr. / 6-0 / Guard
Hometown: Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
High School: Coral Springs Charter School
Major: Business Admin./Healthcare Management
Inside the numbers: Borders was extremely efficient from the floor last week as he helped Southern Vermont go 1-1 in league play. He averaged 13.5 points per contest on a 90.9 percent clip from the floor; the senior was also perfect from the free throw line (6-6) while hitting his only 3-point attempt. Borders led the Mountaineers in a Tuesday victory at Lesley with 21 points—his two free throws with nine seconds to go being the difference of the 71-69 win. That was the fourth time this year he’s reached the 20-point mark and the eighth of his SVC career. Additionally, Borders added five rebounds, two steals, and 1.5 assists per game for the Mountaineers.
What Coach Johnson is saying: “Josh has made tremendous strides throughout this season. He is consistently working on his game and developing his skills. We expect Josh to take it up another notch as we get closer to the end of the season. He’s a winner!”
